"C" is for Christmas in Sweden

I'll try to share some photos that I don't think I put up on Flickr--here we have two cousins and a dog, happily occupying the kitchen floor during the time we were preparing the Christmas lunch. Of course. During any type of party or event, everyone ends up in the kitchen. It just always works out that way.

It was nice to see Alexander and Maxie interacting a bit on this trip. Previously Maxie showed some interest in Alexander, and Alexander didn't care. Now I wouldn't say they play together, but they play alongside one another and Alexander seems to prefer that to playing alone, so I call it progress.

I also call Alexander's Christmas eating skills progress as well. If you look closely at this tray you can see white asparagus, crab sticks, herring and avocado. He's not always willing to be so adventurous, so I'm glad he was accommodating during the holiday. Of course, the true favourite that we walked away from Christmas with must be gingerbread cookies. He is Obsessed.

Here we have both boys waking up from a nap. Jonathan came down with his arms full 'o baby and it was awfully cute.
The gifts went over about as I expected. Santa wasn't scary, since A doesn't know enough to be scared, and the toys themselves were only of mild interest, but Oh! The! Wrapping! Paper! If we were all smart, children 1 year old and less would be gifted with three things only: shiny foil, crinkly paper and boxes.

After Christmas proper, we headed up to Helsingland again to see friends at their farm. Alexander took a fantastic, adult-length sauna (during which he peed all over me and the sauna, to the great amusement of everyone else), learned to eat food from a jar and practiced walking on an old, uneven, wooden floor (he crawled a lot).

We came home on the ferry, which Alexander is probably quite used to by now and settled in to relax before New Year, which Alexander spent with a baby sitter and Goran and I spent eating an overpriced, bland meal in a hotel. Oh well.
