Now that Blob looks more like a baby, and less like an amphibian (or, well, a blob), here is an ultrasound photo. Typical 12 week baby in utero, nothing exciting. All the news was good--spine is fine, nose and neck don't indicate Downs, fingers exist in proper numbers and location, heart is beating, fluid levels are fine, the placenta is high in back ... pretty much all you want to hear.
They're running blood work on me and the initial basic stuff (iron, glucose, blah blah blah) is all good and we'll hear back about any issues by next week.
On a more "me me me" front, I've kept on feeling like crap and after consulting with Dr Google and invisible online friends, determined that I've probably been dehydrated for most of this pregnancy. It would explain why I feel crap all the time, despite not vomiting a lot, and why my energy levels just aren't coming back up the way I'd hoped. I compared my estimate of how much I drink (maybe 2 litres?) with what is recommended (4-6) and realised that I'm pretty far under. So the past two days I've hauled around a water bottle and am feeling the difference. No more nagging, hangover-like headache, not nearly so much dry heaving and nausea, but on the other hand I seem to spend most of the day going to the toilet and that gets very, very, very boring.
Otherwise we're keeping busy with Alexander and his antics. Goran has been trapped here with us (thank you unpronounceable Icelandic volcano) for the past week and I'm sure Alexander appreciates the chance to spend more time with someone who plays with him. I guess I don't play so much as I organise him: wear this, do that, eat now, sit down, be quiet, leave the dog alone, etc etc etc ad nauseum. I tried to upload a video for you, but the internet gods are not co-operating and I'm getting Polish error messages. No toddler cuteness to share today, sorry!
