When he first started to sit, we stuck him in Maxi's chair in Sweden. He seemed to like it well enough. He's a bit small maybe, and kept dropping his toys into the crack between his leg and the chair and not being able to recover them, but otherwise it was fine. It has a five point harness anyway, so I figured it would be a good first try.
But then this weekend we stopped in for a disgusting, awful, sick-inducing lunch at a Finnish burger chain (we were really hungry. next time, we'll starve instead) and I noticed they had highchairs. Theirs were much less cushy though, and had no straps or anything so I was skeptical. I let him try though, and he did great!

He sat there for our whole meal, and happily ate his truck. Nutrition-wise, I'd say he got about as much out of the meal as we did. Sigh.

Soooo, of course when we hauled him out to a fancy champagne brunch this Sunday, I had to order him a seat of his own. And, of course, he stayed in it for about 5 min before squealing like a dolphin. It was all funky and well-designed and aesthetically appealing, so he hated it.

We're going to get him his own in the next week or few days, and I shudder to think what it will look like. Hopefully they'll have some models set up, so we can do a test drive before buying.
May I draw your attention to what he does in the chair? You will notice that he does seem to understand that one is meant to put things in one's mouth while in this sort of chair. At least we've got that point down pat.
