"I" is for instructions

Instructions on feeding a baby solids, that is!

1) Begin by choosing your preferred solid, and prepare it in an appropriate manner. In this case, that means peel and boil a potato and then add in enough breastmilk to make a fairly loose and liquid-like puree once it's all been blitzed in the food processor. I shall spare you from seeing me adding the breastmilk...

2) Assemble your tools. As we have not found a high chair that we can stand looking at for the next few years, we skipped that step and settled for a bib and a baby spoon. We also skipped the whole "cover floor with tarp" step, because we (rightly) didn't expect him to be into the expeience enough to want to make a mess.

3) Wait until baby opens mouth and stick in the food.

4) Pause while baby contemplates.

5) Note baby's reaction. If positive, proceed to step 6.

6) Repeat until baby objects. This took about 5-6 spoonfulls. I am not at all certian, nor is Goran, that any of the potato actually got swallowed, but Alexander was willing to have it in his mouth, and seemed to find the experience to be a generally fun game.
We wil continue to offer a bit of solid food each afternoon. I made enough potato to serve for 3 days and after that we'll try something else. I'm thinking parsnip, at the moment.

Oh, and I'm not even going to bother with a poll. You know, only 8 of you voted? 30-odd visitors, and EIGHT votes. I'm pouting.
