"B" is for bathtime

Just a little update on the whole bath time thing. He's still not a fan, and therefore I still bathe him rather less frequently than a lot of other kids I know. He gets fully cleaned (and by that I mean not just his butt and face) twice a week and that is about it.

Most of the time, we escape without major tears, but he's pretty clear that he's not enjoying himself either. I've been experimenting with what he likes the most, or dislikes least, rather. So far the best has been the little plastic "bath chair" we borrowed from his aunt Anna in Sweden. He pretty much just sat there and let us have our way with him. I thought they would maybe sell such a thing here, but I haven't found one.

The little bathtub, from earlier posts, has been relegated to the corner of the bathroom, where it gathers dust and slowly deflates. I should just pack it away because he's so big now that his legs stick out the bottom anyway. I may try it again when he can sit up, but mostly it's been useless. I often just hold him while I'm in the shower now. He doesn't cry and if I'm fast, I can just stick his head under the spray to rinse the shampoo out and be done before he realizes that crying is even an option.
The other thing he'll tolerate is sitting in the tub with me or Goran. This is not the best solution because a baby-friendly temperature is not really one we want to hang out in, and it's hard to support him and clean him at the same time. The past few times I've tried it, I've been in there with him and Goran has been waiting in the wings to pluck him from the water and dry him off, but the other day, I nominated Goran for bath-sitting responsibilities and took over the position of "mamaratzi" instead. As you can see, he's not thrilled, but he's not crying either.
The hit of the event was my grandfather's old rubber ducky, which Alexander attempted (naturally) to eat and I forgot to photograph. That's okay though, because he's always happy to eat his hands.
