This is another boring, picture-free post, sorry grandparents! I just want to sort of mark the occasion of Alexander's first evening alone with a sitter.
Eva-Liis came over Saturday night at 7, in time to hang out and occupy Alexander while I dressed and Goran got a last bit of work in, and then after a quick feeding by me, we put him to bed together. He was fussing a bit when we left at 8, in that "I know I'm tired but I want to stay up, and why do I have to lie here, but gee I'm tired, and mom maybe I want some more to eat...zzzzzzzzzzzzz" way. I suspect he was out for the count before the elevator was down to the ground floor, actually.
Goran came home at 1, as per our agreement with the sitter, and I stayed out one more hour, enjoying at least one, probably two too many cocktails at the party we'd been too. Eva-Liis said Alexander slept for four hours, but Goran said he was asleep when he got in, so I'm guessing he might have briefly awakened around midnight, as he often does, squeaked and fussed a bit, farted once or twice and then settled back to sleep. He was sound asleep when I came home, and didn't wake to be fed until just after 3.
We had a great time eating together in a nice restaurant, joining a few friends for cocktails, and then going to another friend's going away party. It is nice to know we can leave Alexander for the evening, and even better to know he's all cozy and cute and warm and sleepy and waiting for us at home.
Yuck. I'm turning into such a sappy mom.
