"S" is for snot

I couldn't do C for cold, since I wrote a C entry yesterday, and sick is just too boring ...

In the mei tai after walking Jill.

Alexander has a small cold. Nothing serious, just a runny nose and infrequent cough, but he's pretty clingy as a result. Considering the amount of contact the average 3 month old requires, this is saying something.
We were meant to go on a field trip with baby school, to the Children's Museum in Tartu, but the bus left at 9 and wouldn't have been back till 6 and that seems like a loooong day for even a healthy baby, so we decided to skip it. Also, Goran was due to get home at 2 (of course it was more like 3.30, thanks LOT Air) and it's a rare treat for him to hang out with Alexander on a Friday afternoon.

As a result of the clinging, I'm carrying him pretty constantly today; otherwise he fusses or outright cries. Actually, he fusses even in the sling, because he's all snotted up and can't breathe well. He snarfled all night long, to an extent that I had to put in ear plugs. It's sort of heart wrenching to listen to him struggle to breathe through the gunk and I found all that pity rather distracting when I was trying to sleep. I do use the snot snorfer (aka bulb syringe) to try and clean his nose out, but he's pretty clear about thinking it's a torture device, so I don't dare force it on him at night, lest I further disturb his sleep.

Anyway, here he is, all pathetic and scrunched up (which he seems to like). He fell asleep shortly after I took these photos, and woke up just when Goran arrived home from Poland.

A "mama's eye" view

A few cuddles and 30 min of playtime later, he's conked out again. This time I got him to sleep in the crib. Hopefully this nap will last at least an hour, because Snotty McGrouchypants needs his rest. And mama wouldn't mind a bit of down-time either.
