"B" is for bathtime

I've had a hard time bathing Alexander since we moved here. I just can't find a good place to do it. The kitchen sink would be ideal, but there is no stopper to keep the water in. The bathroom sink is too small and has a spout which sticks right into Alexander's neck. Then there is the slippery big tub. Not only is it, um, slippery, but it has these hand-hold things which Alexander finds it very hard to ignore. They beckon to him, "Come, grab us, hold us, stand up!" The bathtub is a no standing zone until he's old enough to step in and shower alone, so far as I'm concerned, so this is problematic and it turns what should be a fun time into a real battle of wills. So he's been pretty dirty. Good solution there mama! I spilled (cold) latte in his hair last week and took three days to wash it out because bathtime is such a pain.

I bitched to Goran and insisted that he do it next time, so last night he took over. If you are two, it's quite possible for one of you to just go in the tub with Alexander. That keeps him happy (parents are even more fun than standing) and is much safer I think. It's very uncomfortable if you're alone though, because then you're all freezing and wet and naked while trying to dry and diaper a squirming baby, but last night worked fine. Daddy was the bathtime playtoy, and Mommy waited outside the tub with a towel and, thankfully, a camera. How cute was bathtime last night?
